A planned community at the foot of Daisy Mountain
Anthem was developed by Del Webb starting in 1998 as a master-planned community along I-17, about 30 miles north of downtown Phoenix. Homes sit at the base of Daisy Mountain, and the community is split into Parkside, Country Club and the Village, each with its own homeowners association. Parkside even straddles the freeway: the east side is unincorporated Maricopa County and the west side is in the City of Phoenix.
For a crane lift, that history matters. Anthem was planned from the start, so homes answer to an HOA, and backyards are typically closed in by walls, which is exactly why so many spas and units end up going over the house.
Check with your HOA before lift day
We can't tell you what your HOA allows, but we can tell you what usually comes up. A crane truck parks on the street or driveway for a short time, and some associations want notice for work vehicles, equipment going in the backyard, or a new spa pad. Gated sections may need gate access arranged ahead of time. A quick call to your association office saves headaches.
If you're on the Phoenix side of Parkside, street setups fall under city rules; on the county side, Maricopa County. Either way, if the truck needs to block part of a road, ask whether a permit applies.
What we lift in Anthem
- Rooftop and side-yard HVAC equipment. Heat pumps, package units and condensers for contractors doing change-outs, plus hauling the old unit down. Details on our HVAC crane lifts page.
- Spas and hot tubs. Block walls and narrow side yards are the usual reason a spa can't be rolled in. Over the house it goes. See spa and hot tub lifts.
- Solar panels. Staging pallets on the roof so installers aren't carrying panels up ladders. See solar panel lifts.
- Trusses, sheds and heavy items for additions, casitas and backyard projects.
Tile roofs and two-story homes
If your home has a tile roof, know that we don't set loads on tile, and we plan picks so the unit or spa clears the roofline and lands where it should. With a two-story house between the truck and the backyard, the distance from the truck to the landing spot is the number that matters most. Measure it if you can, or send a photo from the street and one from the backyard.
Scheduling an Anthem lift
From Surprise, we take Loop 303 over to I-17 and head north, so Anthem is a straightforward run for us. Every lift is different. Call 602-615-0712 or text 623-258-8361 with the weight of the item, how far it needs to go and where the truck can park, and he'll confirm the lift. Skyhook Crane is licensed and insured, and if your lift needs a bigger crane, we have trusted relationships with other crane companies.

Frequently asked questions
Does my Anthem HOA need to approve a crane lift?
It depends on your association and what you're doing. Parkside, Country Club and the Village each have their own HOA, and some want notice for work vehicles, backyard equipment or new structures like a spa pad. Call your association before booking. We're happy to provide the truck details they ask about, like where it will park and for how long.
Can you lift a hot tub over a two-story Anthem home?
Often, yes, but it depends on the spa's weight, how far the backyard landing spot is from where the truck parks, and what's overhead. Two-story homes make the distance the key question. Send the spa model or weight, plus street and backyard photos, and Don will confirm whether the lift works before you schedule.
Is the east side of Anthem handled differently than the west side?
For the lift itself, no. The difference is jurisdiction. Part of Parkside west of I-17 is in the City of Phoenix, while the rest of Anthem is unincorporated Maricopa County. If the truck needs to set up in the street, check with the right agency about any permit or traffic rules before lift day.
