Why Fountain Hills lifts take a little extra thought

Fountain Hills climbs. The town's elevation runs from about 1,520 feet at the famous fountain to around 3,000 feet up near Golden Eagle Boulevard, with the McDowell Mountains on one side and the Verde River to the east. A lot of homes are built into that slope, with the street above or below the house and natural desert left in between.

For a crane, slope means three things: finding a level, solid place for the truck, figuring out the true distance to the landing spot, and making sure nothing overhead or on the hillside is in the swing path.

Rooftop HVAC work

HVAC contractors are the core of our business. In Fountain Hills, we set package units, heat pumps and condensers on roofs and pads and lower the old equipment, which beats hand-carrying a unit down a sloped side yard. The commercial buildings along Saguaro Boulevard, Palisades Boulevard and the Avenue of the Fountains area get the same treatment. Details on our HVAC crane lifts page.

Spas and solar on view lots

When the backyard is a terrace looking out at the mountains, getting a spa there is a lift, not a roll. We set spas and swim spas over the house onto patios and decks; see spa and hot tub lifts. Solar installers also use us to stage panels on the roof, saving the crew a lot of ladder trips. See solar panel lifts.

We also lift trusses, building materials and heavy items such as safes, outdoor kitchen pieces and stone features.

Washes, rain and lift-day timing

Several washes run through Fountain Hills and can flood during rain. Soft shoulders and wet ground aren't where a crane truck belongs. If a storm rolls through before your lift, tell us. We'll look at conditions and, if needed, move the day. Wind matters too: monsoon gusts can make a lift unsafe even when the ground is fine.

HOAs and neighbors

If your neighborhood has an HOA or a gated entry, check whether the association wants notice for a contractor truck or approval for a new spa or structure, and arrange gate access ahead of time. It's also kind to give the neighbors a heads-up, since the truck may sit in the street for a while. Fountain Hills is also an International Dark Sky Community with no street lights, so think about where the truck can park safely and visibly on your street.

Frequently asked questions

Can you lift a spa onto a hillside patio in Fountain Hills?

Often, yes. The spa's weight and the distance from where the truck can park to the patio are what decide it. On sloped lots, the truck may set up in the street above or below the home. Send the spa model and photos from the street and the patio, and Don will confirm the lift before you book.

Is Fountain Hills too far for your crane?

No. Fountain Hills is about 45 to 50 miles from our Surprise base, and we reach it by way of Loop 101 and Shea Boulevard. It's part of our regular Valley service area. Call 602-615-0712 or text 623-258-8361 with your address and the lift details, and we'll find a day that works.

What happens if it rains before my Fountain Hills lift?

We check conditions before we roll. Washes in Fountain Hills can run during storms, and wet or soft ground isn't safe for setting up a crane truck. Strong wind can also stop a lift. If conditions aren't right, we'll reschedule rather than take a chance with your property or our crew.
