Good to know
Waddell mixes newer HOA subdivisions with one-to-three-acre rural lots, so a lift may be a reach over a block wall or a long carry across open ground.

Where Waddell is, and why that matters for a lift

Waddell started as a townsite laid out in 1935 at Waddell Road and Cotton Lane, named for investor Donald Ware Waddell. The town itself never really developed, and over the years Glendale and Surprise annexed land around it. Today the name covers an unincorporated stretch of the West Valley between the cities and the White Tank Mountains.

For crane work, that means two very different kinds of jobs in one area: newer subdivisions like Cortessa and Granite Vista, and rural lots like Clearwater Farms, where parcels run roughly one to three acres. We are about 10 miles away in Surprise, so Waddell is a short run down Loop 303 for us.

To the west, the White Tank Mountains and White Tank Mountain Regional Park frame the area. Properties closer to the mountains can have more slope, rocky ground and desert washes, while lots closer to the Loop 303 corridor tend to be flatter and more built-up. Both affect where the truck can park and how far the boom has to reach.

HVAC lifts for contractors in Waddell

Lifting heating and cooling equipment for HVAC companies is our main work, and Waddell has a mix of it:

  • Subdivision homes: condensers and heat pumps lifted over the house or block wall to a pad, and rooftop package units on homes that have them
  • Acreage properties: units for the main house, plus equipment for shops, barns and casitas set back from the road
  • Old-unit removal: taking the old equipment out on the same trip the new one goes in

On acreage, the question is usually how close the truck can get. Tell us about the driveway surface, gates and anything soft or uneven between the road and the building. Details are on our HVAC crane lifts page.

Rural lot jobs: wells, sheds and equipment

Larger Waddell properties bring jobs you don't see in a typical subdivision.

Well equipment

If your property has a private well, we help well crews with lifting pumps, pipe and related equipment. The well crew runs the well work; we provide the lift. See well equipment lifts.

Sheds and outbuildings

Prebuilt sheds can be set on a pad without dragging them across the yard. Our storage shed lifts page covers how to prepare the base.

Heavy items

Livestock equipment, water tanks, machinery and building materials for a shop or barn project can all be lifted into place, as long as the lift checks out first.

Subdivision jobs: spas and walled yards

In Waddell's newer neighborhoods, homes back up to block walls with narrow side gates. A spa, a heavy outdoor kitchen piece or a large planter usually can't fit through. If it can't go through the door, over the roof it goes. Many of these homes have tile roofs, so let us know the roof type and where the item needs to land.

Check with your HOA before lift day about work trucks and parking. Some cities and counties require a right-of-way or street-use permit to set up in the street, and because Waddell sits between unincorporated county land and city limits, it is worth confirming which jurisdiction covers your street.

A good rule for homeowners: figure out how the item will get into the yard before you buy it. Measure from the curb or driveway to the pad, note any trees or patio covers in the way, and have the pad finished before the lift. Then text us photos and the item weight.

Safety and getting scheduled

Rural roads often have overhead power lines running along them and into properties. OSHA requires crane equipment and loads to stay at least 20 feet from lines up to 350 kV unless specific procedures are used (29 CFR 1926.1408). Point out any lines when you send photos.

Every lift is different. Call with the weight of the item, how far it needs to go and where the truck can park, and Don will confirm the lift. If a job needs more crane than ours, we have trusted relationships with other crane companies. Skyhook Crane is licensed and insured. Call 602-615-0712 or text 623-258-8361 to schedule.

Crane lifts we do in Waddell

Frequently asked questions

Can your crane truck get onto my Waddell acreage property?

It depends on the driveway and ground. Dirt drives, soft spots, washes and narrow gates all affect how close the truck can safely get to the building or pad. Send photos of the route from the road and the setup area, along with the item weight, and Don will let you know whether the lift works.

Do you help well crews in Waddell?

Yes. We provide crane lifts for well crews handling pumps, pipe and other well equipment on private properties. The well company handles the well work itself, and we handle the lifting. Have the well crew or property owner call with the equipment details and site access, and Don will confirm the lift.

Is Waddell part of Glendale or Surprise?

Waddell is an unincorporated community in Maricopa County, but Glendale and Surprise have annexed land around it over the years. That matters if the truck needs to set up in the street, because permit rules depend on who has jurisdiction. Check with the county or the nearby city before lift day.
