Rural lots, long driveways and the access question

New River is an unincorporated community in Maricopa County that covers about 56 square miles north of Anthem along I-17. It started as a stagecoach stop in 1868 and has stayed rural on purpose: there's no city government, plenty of acreage and a lot of homes off dirt roads.

That changes how we plan a lift. In the city, the question is usually tight space. In New River, it's getting the truck to the spot and setting it on firm, level ground. Before you book, think about:

  • Is the road or driveway in graded, solid condition for a work truck?
  • Is there a firm, level place to set up near the lift?
  • Does the route cross a wash that could be soft after rain?
  • Are there gates, overhead lines or low branches on the way in?

Help for well crews

Water has always been a big deal in New River; historically, many residents relied on hauled water. On properties with a private well, when the well crew needs a hand pulling or setting equipment, or moving a pressure tank or storage tank into place, we can help with the lifting part. The well crew does the well work; we bring the crane. Read more on our well equipment lifts page and give us a call with the details.

HVAC, sheds and the rest

HVAC contractors are still our biggest customers, and New River homes need cooling as much as anywhere in the Valley. We set heat pumps, package units and condensers on roofs and pads and lower old units off. See HVAC crane lifts.

Acreage also means bigger outdoor projects. Prebuilt storage sheds lifted over fences, barn and shop trusses, building materials staged for a new garage, and spas set behind a ranch house are all part of the work.

Desert terrain and monsoon season

New River sits on the seasonal New River wash, part of the Agua Fria River system, and Daisy Mountain and Gavilan Peak rise inside the community. Washes and desert soil can be soft or rutted after storms, which matters for a heavy truck. If it's rained recently, tell us, and we may suggest moving the day. We'd rather reschedule than get stuck or set up on ground that isn't solid.

Frequently asked questions

Can your crane truck get down a dirt road in New River?

Often, if the road is graded, firm and wide enough, with no low branches or overhead lines in the way. Soft spots and wash crossings are the main concern, especially after rain. Send photos or a short video of the drive in and the spot where you'd like the truck to set up, and Don will tell you whether it works.

Do you work with well drillers and pump crews?

Yes. We help well crews with the lifting side, such as pulling or setting equipment and moving tanks into place. The well professionals handle the well itself. Call 602-615-0712 or text 623-258-8361 with what needs to be lifted, the approximate weight and how close the truck can get to the wellhead or pad, and Don will confirm.

Will rain affect my New River crane lift?

It can. New River sits on a seasonal wash, and desert soil and wash crossings can turn soft after storms, especially during monsoon season. A crane truck needs firm, level ground. If it has rained recently, let us know before lift day. We may recommend waiting a day or two so the setup is safe.
