West Valley crane service

Crane service in the West Valley

The short answer

Skyhook Crane provides crane service across the West Valley from our base in Surprise, Arizona. Owner Don and his son Bryce, a professional crane operator, run a truck-mounted telescopic boom crane for HVAC contractors, builders, well crews and homeowners from Wickenburg and Wittmann to Peoria, Glendale and Buckeye. Call 602-615-0712 to schedule or text 623-258-8361.

A West Valley crane company, based in Surprise

Skyhook Crane is a West Valley company. Owner Don launched it in Surprise on September 11, 2023, and the truck starts its day here, not in central Phoenix. Don operates the crane, and most days his son Bryce comes out with him. Bryce is a professional crane operator, and Don taught him everything he knows. Don also answers the phone and schedules the lifts. That puts us close to the neighborhoods, job sites and rural properties on this side of the Valley.

We run a truck-mounted telescopic boom crane and lift rooftop HVAC equipment for lots and lots of HVAC companies, plus spas, trusses, solar panels, well equipment, storage sheds, building and roofing materials and heavy items for builders and homeowners. We lift it all, within what our truck can safely handle, and we have trusted relationships with other crane companies for bigger jobs.

Call 602-615-0712 to schedule or text 623-258-8361. Send the weight of the item, how far it needs to go and where the truck can park, and Don will confirm the lift.

Home turf: Surprise, Wittmann and Wickenburg

These three are our strongest ground, and each is a different kind of job.

Surprise

Surprise is home base. Master-planned and HOA communities, block walls, narrow side yards, two-story homes and tile roofs make it prime territory for rooftop HVAC change-outs and spas lifted over the house.

Wittmann

Wittmann, about 15 miles up US 60, is our closest rural community. Acreage, horse properties, dirt roads, private wells and manufactured homes mean lifts for well crews, storage tanks, sheds, barn trusses and evaporative coolers.

Wickenburg

Wickenburg, about 37 miles up US 60 at roughly 2,200 feet, brings hills, washes, ranches and guest ranches. Jobs range from HVAC units downtown to well equipment, water tanks and building materials on ranch properties.

The US 60 corridor

US 60, known as Grand Avenue through the Valley, runs diagonally northwest from the metro through Surprise and out to Wittmann, Morristown and Wickenburg, where US 93 begins its run toward Kingman. At Morristown, State Route 74 heads east toward Lake Pleasant.

That corridor is a natural fit for a Surprise-based crane. The farther out you go, the more lifts happen on acreage, at the end of gravel drives, near wells and under rural power lines. Good photos and accurate weights let Don confirm a lift before the truck makes a longer drive.

The rest of the West Valley

From Surprise we work across the West Valley. Each city has its own page with local details:

Loop 303 connects Surprise with the southwest side of the Valley, and Loop 101 and I-10 cover the rest. We work beyond the West Valley too, across the Phoenix metro and into northern Arizona when needed. See all our service areas.

HVAC crane lifts for West Valley contractors

Rooftop air conditioning and heating equipment is our main work. For West Valley HVAC companies, we handle:

  • Package units and heat pumps on homes and small commercial roofs
  • Old-unit removal and new-unit sets on the same visit
  • Condensers lifted over block walls and two-story homes
  • Evaporative coolers, curbs and equipment stands

Your crew rigs and guides; we run the boom and set the unit, ideally in one shot. That keeps techs off ladders with heavy equipment and lets the crew move on to the next job. Don is a crane operator with heart: he has been known to get on the roof to help line up a package unit, or help a crew in the attic when he sees them struggling. Summer is the busy season, so the more notice the better. See HVAC crane lifts and our guide for HVAC contractors.

Other lifts we handle across the West Valley

Every lift is different. Call with the weight of the item, how far it needs to go and where the truck can park, and Don will confirm the lift.

Planning a West Valley lift

  1. Check with your HOA. Many West Valley communities have rules about work trucks, equipment and street parking.
  2. Check with your city. Some cities require a right-of-way or street-use permit to set up in the street. In unincorporated areas, check with Maricopa County.
  3. Look up. OSHA requires crane equipment and loads to stay at least 20 feet from power lines up to 350 kV unless specific procedures are used (29 CFR 1926.1408).
  4. Know the ground. The truck needs a firm, level setup spot. On rural lots, point out soft dirt, washes and septic systems.
  5. Send photos. The setup spot, the path and the landing area.

What can a crane lift for my West Valley home?

Common homeowner lifts include spas and hot tubs over the house, prebuilt storage sheds, heavy items that will not fit through a gate, and trusses or materials for additions and projects. Every lift depends on the weight, the distance from the truck and where it can park, so call with those details and Don will confirm.

Do you work with HVAC companies across the West Valley?

What if my lift is too big for your crane?

We will tell you straight. Every lift is different, and Don confirms each one before it is scheduled. If a job is beyond our truck, we have trusted relationships with other crane companies and can point you in the right direction instead of guessing on lift day.
