Mesa is big, so we plan by area

Mesa is Arizona's third-largest city by population and covers about 139 square miles of Maricopa County. Loop 101 skirts the west edge, US 60 (the Superstition Freeway) cuts across the middle, and Loop 202 wraps around the north and east. That's a lot of ground, and the setups change as you go.

  • West Mesa and downtown: older neighborhoods, established commercial corridors and the downtown area around the Mesa Arts Center. Expect mature trees, alleys and overhead lines.
  • Dobson Ranch and central Mesa: established planned neighborhoods with HOAs, block walls and golf course frontage in places.
  • Northeast Mesa: Red Mountain Ranch and Las Sendas, with larger homes and some sloped desert lots.
  • Southeast Mesa: newer master-planned areas like Eastmark, where HOA guidelines and fresh landscaping both need respecting.

HVAC change-outs, start to finish

Mesa's long commercial corridors are full of flat roofs with package units, and its neighborhoods have plenty of roof-mounted equipment too. HVAC contractors call us so the crew can set the new unit and send the old one down in the same visit. Have the old unit disconnected, the curb ready and a plan for parking, and we'll get it done efficiently. If the building has tenants, letting them know about the lift ahead of time keeps the parking lot clear and the work zone safe. See HVAC crane lifts.

Airports and lift planning

Mesa has two airports: Falcon Field in the northeast and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway in the far southeast. If your property is close to either, mention it when you call. Crane work near airports can involve height considerations, and it's worth checking with your contractor or the airport about any requirements before lift day.

Homeowners: spas, trusses and heavy items

Mesa backyards are usually walled, and side gates are rarely wide enough for a spa. We lift spas and hot tubs over the house onto the pad. See spa and hot tub lifts.

We also set trusses for patio covers, garages and additions (see truss lifts), stage solar panels and roofing materials on the roof so crews aren't humping bundles up a ladder, and move heavy items like safes and equipment that won't go through a door.

Getting a Mesa lift on the schedule

From Surprise, we cross the Valley on Loop 101 and Loop 202 or US 60. Every lift is different. Call 602-615-0712 or text 623-258-8361 with the weight of the item, how far it needs to go and where the truck can park, and he'll confirm the lift. If your HOA wants notice for contractor vehicles, give them a heads-up. Skyhook Crane is licensed and insured.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover east Mesa, like Eastmark and Las Sendas?

Yes. We work across all of Mesa, from downtown and Dobson Ranch to Red Mountain Ranch, Las Sendas and Eastmark. The northeast has more sloped lots, and newer areas have HOA rules for contractor vehicles. Call 602-615-0712 or text 623-258-8361 with your address and the item details, and Don will confirm the lift.

My Mesa home is near Falcon Field. Does that matter for a crane lift?

It can. Crane work near airports can raise height questions, so mention it when you call. Most residential lifts are low and short, but it's worth checking with your contractor or the airport about any requirements before lift day. Don will factor the location into planning the lift.

Can you set a spa in a west Mesa backyard with an alley behind it?

Sometimes the alley is the best setup spot, and sometimes it's too narrow or has power lines overhead. Federal rules require extra precautions when a crane or load could come within 20 feet of a line up to 350 kV. Send photos of the front, the alley and the pad, and Don will pick the safest approach.
