The city, not the county
Quick clarification, because it comes up: this page is about the City of Maricopa, which is actually in Pinal County. (Maricopa County is the big county that includes Phoenix and our home base in Surprise.) The city incorporated in 2003 and grew fast with master-planned neighborhoods such as Rancho El Dorado, Homestead, Province and Maricopa Meadows.
Maricopa has a few other things that set it apart. Part of the city lies within the boundaries of the Ak-Chin Indian Community, home to Harrah's Ak-Chin, and the city has the closest Amtrak station to Phoenix. If your project sits on tribal land rather than city land, the rules for permits and site access may be different, so check with the right authority before you book the lift. For city projects, the City of Maricopa is the place to ask about street use.
Getting there: one main road in
Most trips into Maricopa from the Valley come down State Route 347, which becomes John Wayne Parkway inside the city, through the Gila River Indian Community. State Route 238 connects to the east. From Surprise, we take Loop 303 or Loop 101 to I-10, then SR 347 south.
Because the drive is long and SR 347 traffic can vary, we like to have everything confirmed before we leave: the item, its weight, the setup spot and gate or HOA access. A missed detail costs everyone more out here.
HVAC contractors in Maricopa
Neighborhoods built over the past couple of decades are reaching the age when original HVAC equipment gets replaced. We set new package units, heat pumps and condensers and bring the old ones down in the same trip. Commercial buildings along John Wayne Parkway get the same service. See HVAC crane lifts and our page for HVAC contractors.
Planned neighborhoods, HOAs and walled yards
Master-planned living means HOAs, block walls and homes close together, which is exactly why spas, sheds and patio-cover trusses go over the house. A few things to handle before lift day:
- Check HOA rules on contractor trucks and approvals for new spas or structures.
- Arrange gate access if your neighborhood is gated.
- Clear the landing area and move vehicles off the street in front of the house.
- Measure, or estimate, the distance from the street to the pad.
See spa and hot tub lifts and solar panel lifts for more detail.
Schedule a Maricopa lift
Every lift is different. Call 602-615-0712 or text 623-258-8361 with the weight of the item, how far it needs to go and where the truck can park, and he'll confirm the lift. Skyhook Crane is licensed and insured, and for lifts beyond our truck, we have trusted relationships with other crane companies.

Frequently asked questions
Do you serve the City of Maricopa in Pinal County?
Yes. The City of Maricopa is about 60 miles from our Surprise base, reached by way of I-10 and State Route 347. It's one of our longer runs, so we confirm details ahead of time. Call 602-615-0712 or text 623-258-8361 with your address, the item and its weight, and Don will confirm the lift.
Can you lift a spa into a Rancho El Dorado or Homestead backyard?
Often, yes. Walled backyards are the usual reason to use a crane, and the spa's weight and the distance from the street to the pad decide the lift. Check with your HOA about approvals, have the pad ready and send the spa model and photos, and Don will confirm.
Does traffic on SR 347 affect scheduling?
It can. State Route 347 is the main route between Maricopa and I-10, so we plan the trip with that in mind and confirm the lift details before we head out. When we have everything ahead of time, the visit is efficient for you and for your contractor's crew.
